John & Anita Cain – CainFusions
In January 2005 Anita sent John to a beginning Stained Glass Class through the local community college; it was the start of a hobby that has grown into a true passion. John did several projects utilizing preset designs, & within a year was designing his own pieces. In 2007 both John & Anita took a class in Fused Glass & another new direction was discovered for their creative ideas. They purchased their own kiln, established a home-based business under the name of Barblaw’s Bangles, & soon were showing fused glass jewelry at local craft fairs. The next year they expanded into fused glass trays, bowls, coaster sets, spoon rests & more; the name CainFusions was adopted & they have since converted all business entities to the name CainFusions. Jim Rice has joined us in our creative endeavors and we consider him our “Artist in Residence”.
2015 is their eigth year on the local craft scene; they have more than doubled their sales each year, & will participate in 13 to 20 events in the greater Kansas City area this summer & fall. John continues to create original stained / fused pieces in addition to the wide array of fused glass product both he & Anita produce. Their focus this year is to add original fused glass wind chimes to the product line.
If you’re a Facebook fan, please search on “CainFusions” for our business page. There’s photography of our efforts as well as an EVENTS Tab that lists all of the shows we’ll be participating in. There are several photo albums devoted to “Art Pieces”, “Fused Glass”, “Suncatchers”, and more.

All pieces are designed, assembled, fired, & finished in a working studio located in the basement of our home. We work primarily with Spectrum System 96 Glass, but also dabble a bit in Bullseye COE 90 as well as traditional stained glass. We carry at least 100 or so types/colors of glass at all times. We currently have four: an Olympic 2514GFE and a Skutt 1414 used for production runs & our largest pieces; a Skutt HotStart Pro which is the first kiln we bought; & a Skutt 8” Firebox which is used to create vitrograph (“pulled glass”) & allows us to explore “glass combing”. Photos of our studio can be viewed on our Facebook page.
We do NOT teach or conduct classes currently. We DO enjoy taking custom requests &/or commissions for larger pieces. If you are interested in seeing our studio please contact us to arrange for an appointment to visit. We live in Lenexa, KS just west on College Blvd. from Pflumm Road.
